Golf Starter Sets: How Much Do I Have to Pay?
If you are new to the game of golf, you are probably still unaware of how many different clubs, balls, and tees there are available, and which ones you need. You also may be confused about what to buy and how much you should spend on it. You are going to see clubs that range in a very wide price range. Since you are new to the game, and your clubs might take somewhat of a beating, don’t go out and buy the most expensive set. On the other hand, you don’t want to look silly on the golf course with a lousy set of clubs that don’t allow you to perform well, or spend money on clubs that wont last. This means you are going to have to find something in the middle.
All of the more popular brand name clubs will have starter sets, but they are going to be expensive. When you go in to the golf store or a sports goods store, talk with the assistant or golf pro and explain to them that you are a beginner. They will show you the brands that are cheaper in price, but still decent in quality. Some stores like Golf Galaxy even have their own brand of clubs. The store may even allow you to check a set out and see if you like them. This way you may be able to try a couple different sets. You want a set that has all of the clubs that you are going to need, and most started sets come in a bag with 10 clubs. You will also want to have them sized correctly so they work properly for you.
So how much should all of this cost you? Around $250.00-$350.00 will get you a good set that isn’t pricey, but is still made with good quality and will have some longevity. You don’t want to spend a large amount of money because other than clubs, there are still things that you are going to need like shoes, balls, tees, and gloves. Once you get your set, head to the driving range and comfortable with them. Since you didn’t splurge on your clubs, you’ll still have money to play!
